Morbi: According to official sources, all the victims have been recovered and no one is missing in the tragedy of the Morbi bridge collapse in Gujarat district.

At least 135 people have been killed and more than 100 injured after a cable suspension bridge collapsed in the town of Morbi on Sunday, plunging people into the Machchhu River. Earlier on Wednesday, the Morbi district administration received information that a person was missing in the tragedy, but this information turned out to be false during police verification, they added.

National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Commander Prasanna Kumar, citing information from the district administration, also said on Wednesday that one or two people were missing and the rescue operation was over. ongoing.

No less than four of the nine accused of the tragedy have been arrested and taken into custody. Five are still at large. Gujarat Police had filed a First Information Report under Sections 304 and 308 of the IPC (culpable homicide not constituting murder) against the nine people from the Oreva group, prima facie responsible for the collapse tragedy from the bridge.

Of the four people in custody, two are executives from the Oreva company, which made the bridge open to visitors after seven months of maintenance work, and the other two are workers from the manufacturing company.

Speaking on the ongoing investigation, Rahul Tripathi, SP, Morbi, said: “We are questioning the 4 defendants in our custody and we are trying to establish responsibility for the different types of failures in the renovation of the bridge. We are investigating thoroughly and if anyone’s role comes to light, he or she will be arrested and arrested.”

He added: “Yes, we have delivered a scientific report to the court, but the details of it cannot be shared with you at this stage as it will hamper our investigation.” A statewide mourning was observed in Gujarat on Wednesday with the national flag flying at half mast over state government buildings.
