Amarnath Yatra 2022: Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a high-level meeting today to review the security situation of Amarnath Yatra. Let us inform that there has been an increase in the incidents of killings by targeting people in Jammu and Kashmir, in view of which the security of Amarnath Yatra is very important for the government.

Amarnath Yatra 2022: Union Home Minister Amit Shah (Amit Shah) held a high-level meeting on Tuesday to review the security situation of the Amarnath Yatra. During this, he said that the priority of the Modi government is that the pilgrims coming for the Amarnath Yatra get easy darshan and they should not face any problem. He asked all the officials present in the meeting to make adequate arrangements for all necessary facilities including movement of pilgrims, electricity, water, communication and health. During the meeting, Shah gave several instructions including increasing the air services in Srinagar. He directed to provide adequate medical facilities at an altitude of more than 6000 thousand feet. Also, he said that adequate number of oxygen cylinders should be arranged.

The Home Minister said that a tent city should be arranged for the passengers to stay on the way. He directed the deployment of ambulances and helicopters to deal with the emergency medical situation during the yatra. Shah said that transport services should be increased for the convenience of the passengers during the Amarnath Yatra. In view of the landslide incident, he said that adequate arrangements should be made for lighting on the way. Let us inform that Amarnath Yatra will start after two years from June 30.

Traveling after two years

Actually, the Amarnath Yatra could not take place in 2020 and 2021 due to the corona virus epidemic. In 2019, just before the abrogation of Article 370, it was abbreviated. Around three lakh pilgrims are expected to participate in the yatra and the yatra may end on August 11. The Amarnath Yatra is a significant security challenge after the recent incidents of violence and for its smooth conduct, the central government will deploy at least 12,000 paramilitary personnel as well as thousands of Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel.

The high-level meeting was attended by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Indian Army Chief Lt Gen Manoj Pandey, Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha as well as heads of intelligence and security agencies. Director General of Police Force (CRPF) Kuldeep Singh, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Dilbag Singh, Border Roads Organization (BRO) Director General Lt Gen Rajeev Choudhary, Border Security Force (BSF), India Other officials of the Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) also attended the meeting.

It is worth noting that there has been an increase in the incidents of killings by targeting people in Jammu and Kashmir, in view of which the security of Amarnath Yatra is very important for the government. On Thursday, terrorists shot and killed Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhatt in Budgam district. Bhatt is the second Kashmiri Pandit to be the target of terrorists in the last seven months. Terrorists are also targeting people from other states.
