Normal life has been badly affected due to incessant rains in Assam. In Dima Hasao here, there are reports of landslides in 12 villages due to rain. Apart from this, water logging and flood-like situation has arisen in many other areas. According to the District Disaster Management Authority, several residential and commercial buildings have been damaged in Dima Hasao due to incessant rains for the past few days.

According to officials, this situation of rain has been created due to Asani cyclone. In Haflong, Dima Hasao, three people, including a woman, were killed in a landslide. Incidents of road overflow have been reported in many other areas. Dima Hasao’s Deputy Commissioner Nazreen Ahmed has issued an advisory asking people to avoid travel as there have been landslides due to heavy rains. Due to this the condition of the roads is bad.

A total of 24,681 people in 94 villages of six districts- Cachar, Dhemaji, Hojai, Karbi Anglong West, Nagaon and Kamrup (Metro) have been affected by the floods, the Disaster Management Authority said.

Rail services affected due to heavy rains

Several trains have been canceled in the Lumding-Badarpur section of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) due to incessant rains and landslides. A railway spokesperson gave this information. He said that many trains have been canceled or partially canceled in view of waterlogging in many parts of Lumding-Badarpur hill section of Lumding division due to landslides caused by heavy rains. Apart from this, rail routes between Maibang and Mahur have been affected. Trains are running late here.
