Personal Correspondent: In the 1960s, the Left raised the slogan, ‘The land belongs to the plough.’ The farmers of rural Bengal took a leading role in the government of the Left for 34 years. Padma Shibir is now following the strategy of the Left to protect its political existence and turn around in the Panchayat polls. Farmers have been targeted to stop the Trinamool Congress in the war to capture rural Bengal. The BJP top leadership has planned to harvest crops in the panchayat polls by agitating against the deprivation of farmers. The party’s Kisan Morcha has also been instructed to jump into the farmers’ movement after Puja.

The top leadership of the Kisan Morcha is shaken after receiving that order from the BJP top leadership. A special workshop was organized with Kisan Morcha office-bearers from West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Andaman-Nicobar Islands on Wednesday and Thursday at a five-star resort in Lataguri, Jalpaiguri.

The representatives of the rest of the state have given the Kisan Morcha office-bearers of Bengal a lesson on how to win the hearts of the farmers and fuel them to take to the streets to protest against the Trinamool government.

The BJP leadership believes that farmers play an important role in the elections of rural Bengal. 60 percent of those who determine the fortunes of panchayat deities are involved in agriculture. At least 72 lakh farmers are in the state. 96 percent of them are small and marginal farmers. Trinamool Congress Jayarath can be stopped if they get their support. At least 14 district councils of North Bengal and South Bengal can be captured. And if there is an unexpected result in the panchayat polls, there will be no difficulty in winning at least 26 seats in the Lok Sabha polls next year.

In the words of Shambhu Kumar, All India General Secretary of Kisan Morcha, ‘Farmers of Bengal are deprived of the benefits of several projects of the Center due to the non-cooperation of the Trinamool Government of the state. What benefits the farmers of other states get will be brought up to the farmers of the state.

Farmers will be mobilized for the implementation of the welfare schemes that the Modi government has started for food donors in the state.’
