Terrorists fired on a joint CRPF and police patrol team near a bridge connecting Litter Pulwama to Turkwangam in Shopian

A civilian was killed in an exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, police said.

According to police, terrorists fired on a joint CRPF and police patrol team near a bridge connecting Litter Pulwama to Turkwangam in Shopian.

During the exchange of fire, a civilian, identified as Shoib Ah Ganie from Turkwangam, was injured. Police said the civilian was transferred to Pulwama District Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The terrorists, “after a brief chance encounter”, managed to slip into nearby orchards, police said. A case was registered and a search was underway for ultras, police said.
