ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Former finance minister Shaukat Tareen says government measures will destroy small traders.
Speaking to the media on Friday, he said the industry would begin to shut down due to the imposition of a 10% tax. “Inflation has risen to 28%. Due to the imposition of taxes, vehicle and mobile manufacturing plants will close,” he added.
The minister said that the government would impose a gas tax. “A new tax will be introduced. Today’s government decision will increase unemployment. Currently, no one trusts the government,” he said.
He was of the opinion that the PTI had good talks with the IMF. “Pakistan would have received the money in April if the PTI had continued discussions with the IMF,” he added.
Shaukat Tareen said the country would face more difficulties. “A public government should be formed to avoid a Sri Lanka-like situation in the country,” he argued.
