National Book Trust’s Shimla Book Fair to start on June 25 OCN NEWS

The National Book Trust (NBI), in collaboration with the State Department of Language, Art and Culture of Himachal Pradesh, is organizing a Shimla Book Fair from June 25 to July 3 in the capital state summer. The 9-day fair will be held at Padam Dev Complex and the historic Gaiety Theater on The Mall, which sits right in the heart of Shimla. The fair is nothing less than a treat for bibliophiles.

At the fair, which will be inaugurated by Education Minister Govind Singh Thakur, a total of 43 publishers across the country will set up around 63 stalls, which will be filled with books.

At the inauguration, Minister of Education will be joined by Minister of Language and Culture KR Bharti, Rakesh Kanwar, Secretary of Department of Language Culture, Prof. Govind Prasad Sharma and Director of NBT Yuvraj Malik.

Mayank Surolia, deputy director of the National Book Trust, speaking about the fair, said that during the event, books in Hindi, English, Himachali, Punjabi and Urdu, and other languages ​​will be exhibited and sold. Keeping in mind the interest of readers of all age groups, books based on various topics will be available at the fair.

Dr Pankaj Lalit, Secretary, Language, Art and Culture, Government of Himachal Pradesh, informed that as part of the National Education Policy 2020, a new [email protected] series as well as bilingual books published by the Trust for children will also be exhibited at the fair. Organized under the direction of Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi, this exhibition highlights the life and struggle of freedom fighters in India.
